Entrance is free but donations to the Friends to support their

We are pleased to be open once again as part of the national Heritage Open Days.
We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors from near and far to see the Chapel restored and to enjoy a walk around the grounds with the Friends of the General Cemetery.
We will have the Fenland Family History Society with us to help you learn how to research your own family tree. Our researcher Andre Newman will demonstrate what he has found and be on hand to look for any relatives you may have in the grounds.

Yesterday’s dreams shape today’s reality. What future are you dreaming of?
In 2019 Heritage Open Days is celebrating People Power in all its forms, so for this year’s Unsung Stories commission we’re delighted to be working with award-winning activist and founder of the Craftivist Collective, Sarah Corbett. ‘Dare to Dream’ explores the stories of those who have affected positive change in their community by dreaming of a brighter future, and asks what we can do to keep moving things forward.

Event leader: with Bob Smith, a member of the Cambridgeshire Bird Club and a member of the Wisbech Society
As part of our Heritage Lottery funded activities program, we’d like to invite you to a free talk at the General Cemetery about the birds that can be found here. If we’re lucky we’ll see the rare Spotted Flycatcher! Bob Smith will be leading with a presentation in the Chapel, then we’ll have time for questions before a walk around the Cemetery.
Bob is a member of the Cambridgeshire Bird Club and a member of the Wisbech Society. He is also secretary of the Fenland Archaeological Society and is currently completing postgraduate studies into the history and archaeology of the Highlands and Islands, as well as intending to start a book about the mercantile trade of Wisbech.
